3 Tricks to Extend the Life of Your Area Rug and Increase Your Happiness
How to Clean a Well Woven Rug
Something has spilled on your rug. Panic, and the stain sets in. What do you do?
1. If possible, scrape off any excess spill. Blot fresh stains with a clean white cloth to remove excess liquid. Unlike a Buddha statue's belly, never rub the stain as this will move it deeper into the fiber and make it harder to remove.
2. For synthetic rugs spray with stain remover. Carpet approved detergents are okay to use. This will break down the stain. Blot with a clean white cloth to lift out the stain. In situations with deep stains it’s okay to use carpet brush.
3. Afterward set it and allow to dry. Depending on size of stain allow 6-8 hours (in some cases 24 hours before walking on the rug).
Tips:
*Remember, never rub the stain! If you have a puppy we highly recommend rubbing that instead. It can help alleviate some of the stress of the situation.
*Yarn color will not bleed or run into other colors because Well Woven rugs are not dyed. Color is extruded and “baked in” to the yarns.
*Please use manufacturer recommended amount of detergent.
*Yearly steam cleaning is recommended for rugs to fully remove oils and debris that rug fibers can pick up. Local professional cleaning is always recommended.
*Fantastic and 409 cleaning products can also work to remove grease and set in stains.
We hope this helps. Enjoy your new rug for many years to come!
