Journey of a Well Woven Rug - Finishing the Rug: Hand Carving

Once the weaving is finished there is still one more step before a rug is ready to sell. To give each rug a unique texture and definition they are carved or beveled in specific places. Unlike the weaving which is done by machine the rugs are carved one at a time by an expert who masterfully contours the pattern into the rug.

An important step after carving is using compressed air to clean off the loose fibers. Otherwise the shedding would be terrible!
